Hispanic TV is the leading growth segment within the pay TV and advertising industries. And the Hispanic Television Summit—now in its 11th year—is the signature conference for those in the business of serving Hispanic TV viewers. Presented by Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News, this year’s event carries the theme “Exploring the Exploding Hispanic TV Business” and will take an in-depth look at what it will take to maintain dynamic growth in an otherwise lackluster TV market.
This year, as in the past, an award will be presented for 2013 Award for Outstanding Achievement in Hispanic Television to one noteworthy individual who has been responsible for generating profitability for the Hispanic TV industry. The award recipient for 2013 is María Elena Salinas, co-anchor of Univision Network News and the co-anchor of Aquí y Ahora. Past recipients include boxing champ Oscar de la Hoya; TV Hosts Don Francisco and Cristina Saralegui; journalists Jorge Ramos and Maria Celeste Arraras; sportscaster Andres Cantor; and advertising executives Monica Gadsby from SMG, P&G’s Edgar Sandoval and Telemundo’s José Díaz-Balart.
In addition, an award for 2013 Award for Leadership in Hispanic Television will be presented to one company or organization in acknowledgement of their tenacity and commitment to serving the Hispanic viewing audience. Comcast Cable was the 2012 honoree; the 2013 honoree has not yet been announced.
